Musical Chigger Typographic Anatomy Poster
Project Details
The task was to design a poster which visually demonstrated the anatomical parts of typeface design using an assigned insect to inform the design's content and composition.
My composition was inspired by the color and size of my assigned insect: the musical chigger. I chose red to highlight the type's anatomy due to the insect's red coloration. Musical chiggers are also so small that they can barely be seen by the human eye, which I highlighted with the inclusion of a magnifying lens and further emphasized by aligning the type to a dilatational grid and type which grows larger with distance from the lens.
Since the subject of the design was typography, I played with typeface pairing by featuring many typefaces in order to showcase a variety of letterforms and add interest to a simplified layout.
